REGGAE MUSIC FESTIVAL IS FIRST OF ITS KIND IN PITTSBURGH

Rock, Reggae & Relief A Benefit Music Festival Featuring National Bands Will Aid Disaster Relief in Puerto Rico and Local Charity “Asking For Change”

April 27, 2018 – (Pittsburgh, PA) On Saturday, August 25, 2018, Rock, Reggae & Relief will take over Forbes Avenue between Market Square and Wood Street in downtown Pittsburgh for an all-day, free music festival. The Caribbean-inspired block party and music festival will take place from 12pm – 10pm and feature an impressive lineup of national and local talent. The lineup of musicians includes G. Love and Special Sauce, Donavon Frankenreiter, Passafire, and Roots of Creation. Additionally, local artists Ras Prophet, Flow Band, Rhythm ‘n’ Steel Drums, and DJ SMI will perform at the all ages outdoor music festival. This free event will be accepting donations and offer a “pay what you want” option for general admission with all proceeds aiding disaster relief in Puerto Rico and local charity, “Asking for Change.” A special VIP viewing area will be available for purchase and the VIP Premium Package will offer private outdoor viewing areas and private bars, indoor access to Roost lounge with private restrooms and service, and a signature cocktail offered by supporting sponsor Cruzan rum. In addition to a day of fun and music, Rock, Reggae & Relief will also raise money for two important initiatives: “Asking for Change” and hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico. “We believe that the Rock, Reggae & Relief Music Festival is a great opportunity to bring neighbors together, increase creativity, and support initiatives that are making an impact locally and in Puerto Rico,” said Lucas Piatt. “This year’s festival features an impressive lineup of local and national talent and we are thrilled to work with our corporate sponsors and the local Pittsburgh community to create an unforgettable event and support some great causes. With a new hurricane season fast approaching, Puerto Rico remains in a state of emergency nearly one year after Hurricane Maria devastated the island. A portion of proceeds collected during Rock, Reggae & Relief will be donated to Carnegie Mellon University student Rosana Guernica for her upcoming aid trip to Puerto Rico. Rosana and her team have already fundraised over $200,000, delivered a total of 76,500 lbs. of supplies and evacuated over 200 patients. Rock, Reggae & Relief is also partnering with the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) and their annual Kid’s Play and Night Market events to support “Asking for Change”, a social impact campaign aimed at supporting local ministries that provide daily services to homeless families and individuals experiencing crisis in the area.
